Contributions to this committee are not deductible for federal income tax purposes. The California Political Reform Act (Proposition 34) places limits on contributions to candidates for state and local offices and imposes certain prohibitions. This request does not seek a contribution in excess of applicable limits or from prohibited sources. Contributions are acceptable from individuals only. San Diego Unified School Board Trustees follow the Levine Act, which limits campaign contributions to prevent conflicts of interest. Individuals or entities with business before the Board — including permits, contracts, or other proceedings — may not give more than $500 to a school board member’s campaign while the matter is pending and for 12 months afterward. Trustees also cannot participate in decisions involving donors who have given over $500 in the past year, unless the contribution is returned within 30 days. Anyone involved in a matter before the Board must disclose past contributions and may not make new ones during the process or for 12 months after it ends.
