dramatically changing the approach to border enforcement, attention is increasingly turning
to the bigger questions: What happens to those already in the country illegally? How will
enforcement and deportation policies unfold? What changes are coming to asylum and
legal immigration, and which of today’s policies will have a lasting impact?
Few people are better positioned to take us behind the headlines than Lora Ries, Director of
the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation. With nearly 30
years of experience, including senior roles at the Department of Homeland Security, work
with the House Judiciary Committee and service at the Department of Justice, Lora brings
